    “Orally, plum has been reported to cause gastrointestinal issues, including flatulence and diarrhea.

    In one case report, small bowel obstruction with impaction in the terminal ileum occurred in a 10-month old infant who consumed a dried plum. This was likely due to the infant being unable to properly chew the plum.

    Consumption of plum pits has also caused serious gastrointestinal adverse effects.”

Veltassa (patiromer) is used to treat hyperkalemia — that's when potassium levels in your blood are too high. It is approved for adults and for children and teenagers ages 12 and older.

Important note: Veltassa is not meant for emergency situations where potassium levels are dangerously high and need to come down right away. It works gradually, so it is used for ongoing management, not crisis treatment.
