Rhatany and Phendimetrazine

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Phendimetrazine and Rhatany in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Rhatany at all — not against Phendimetrazine, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Rhatany safety at a glance

Rhatany overall Use caution Generally used short-term as a mouth rinse, but human safety data are limited and it should not be swallowed in large amounts.
Pregnancy Avoid Not enough safety information is available, so it is best avoided.

Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.

  • Pain or burning when passing urine Worth acting on
  • Raised blood pressure Worth acting on
  • Tremor or shakiness

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Phendimetrazine. Read the label on DailyMed › Rhatany’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no Rhatany side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that Rhatany has no side effects.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Phendimetrazine page

“Of the 17 supplements on file for phendimetrazine, an appetite-suppressant stimulant prescribed short term for weight loss, activated charcoal is the one that demands real caution. Charcoal binds medications in the gut and can sharply cut how much of a drug your body absorbs, leaving you with less appetite control than your prescriptio…”

About Rhatany

What is Rhatany?

  • Mouth and throat irritation
  • Gum inflammation
  • Sore throat
  • Mild diarrhea
  • Minor skin and mucous membrane inflammation

Rhatany is the root of a South American shrub that is rich in astringent tannins, and it has been used traditionally as a mouth rinse or gargle for inflamed gums and sore throat. Solid human evidence for its benefits is very limited, so it should be viewed as a traditional remedy rather than a proven treatment. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to a lack of safety data.

Krameria lappacea · Krameriaceae · Dried root · Tincture, mouthwash/gargle, tea, lozenges, powdered root extract

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Rhatany is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Rhatany record says about it on its own.

Rhatany: dosing

There is no well-established standardized dose for rhatany. It is most often found in commercial mouthwashes, gargles, tinctures, and lozenges, and the strength varies from product to product. The safest approach is to follow the directions on the specific product label and not to swallow mouth rinses or use them longer than recommended.
