What’s inside
Full disclosure
This supplement contains one active ingredient: acacia catechu (also called black catechu), at 450 mg per capsule. The capsule itself is made from gelatin and water — those are inactive ingredients that hold the supplement together.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we have doesn't establish that acacia catechu is effective for the conditions it's sometimes used for. For both exercise-induced muscle soreness and osteoarthritis, the data shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate it.
That doesn't mean it doesn't work — it means solid human studies haven't been done yet.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Human safety data on concentrated catechu supplements is limited, though short-term use in food-like amounts is considered likely fine. We don't have enough reliable information to recommend this supplement during pregnancy, so it's best avoided if you're pregnant.
For breastfeeding, safety data isn't available — talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, double-check with your pharmacist if you're on blood pressure medications, theophylline or other CYP1A2-processed drugs (certain asthma and heart medications), or immunosuppressants. Altogether, these interactions span 469 individual medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This single-ingredient supplement is mainly of concern if you're on blood pressure medications, asthma drugs like theophylline, or immunosuppressants. Evidence for what it's supposed to do isn't established yet.
If you take any regular medications, check with your pharmacist before starting.

Acacia Cachetu 450 mg by TerraVita Premium Collection Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Acacia Cachetu by TerraVita Premium Collection contains one active ingredient, acacia catechu, which does interact with certain medications.
The most serious documented interactions are Moderate in severity.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Catechu may lower blood pressure, so if you're taking blood pressure medications (antihypertensive drugs), using this supplement could increase your risk of low blood pressure (hypotension). Additionally, catechu may slow how your body clears certain asthma and breathing medications — specifically theophylline and other drugs processed by a liver enzyme called CYP1A2.
This could raise their levels in your bloodstream and strengthen their effects. Catechu also appears to have immune-modulating properties, so it might theoretically interfere with immunosuppressant medications used after organ transplants or for autoimmune conditions.
Although we have interaction data for this ingredient, we still recommend you check your exact medications with the search tool on this page before starting.
