What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: beta-alanine, an amino acid. That's it — there are no fillers or other inactive ingredients listed.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Beta-alanine is possibly effective for athletic performance and physical performance. For other uses — age-related cognitive decline, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cognitive function, and menopausal symptoms — the evidence isn't solid enough to rate it.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Beta-alanine is generally well tolerated in healthy adults. The most common side effect is a harmless skin tingling and flushing (pins and needles feeling, or paresthesia) that usually starts on the scalp within 20 minutes, spreads across the body, and lasts about an hour.
Severity depends on dose — it's very mild at lower doses and more noticeable at higher ones. The ingredient hasn't been studied for long-term use at high doses, so caution is warranted there.
There isn't enough safety information to recommend beta-alanine during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you if you're pregnant, planning pregnancy, or nursing.
