What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: beta-alanine, an amino acid your body uses to build carnosine, a compound involved in muscle function and endurance. You get a simple, unflavored powder with no inactive ingredients listed.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Beta-alanine is possibly effective for athletic performance and physical performance — the evidence suggests it may help, but we're not certain how much. For age-related cognitive decline, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cognitive function, and menopausal symptoms, the evidence isn't established in the data we hold.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Beta-alanine is generally well tolerated in healthy adults. The most common side effect is a harmless skin tingling (paresthesia) and flushing, usually starting on the scalp within 20 minutes of taking it and lasting about an hour — milder at lower doses and more noticeable at higher ones.
The safety data advises against use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding because there isn't enough information to know it's safe.
