The capsule itself is made from gelatin and filled with microcrystalline cellulose, vegetable magnesium stearate, and silicon dioxide to keep everything stable and easy to swallow.

Beta-sitosterol is likely effective for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) — the non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland that causes trouble with urination as men age. For familial hypercholesterolemia (a genetic condition that raises cholesterol) and coronary heart disease, the evidence suggests it's possibly effective.
