Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: biotin, a B vitamin at 10,000 micrograms per tablet. Biotin plays a role in converting food into energy and maintaining healthy skin, hair, and nails.

The tablet also contains several inactive ingredients — sorbitol, fructose, natural fruit flavors, stearic acid, vegetable magnesium stearate, cellulose, and citric acid — which help form and flavor the fast-dissolving tablet.

Strong evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed

This product doesn't appear to be marketed for a specific use, so we graded Biotin's overall clinical evidence instead.

Strong

Strong clinical evidence supports Biotin for:

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.
  • Since the label doesn't commit to one use, we graded the ingredient's overall clinical evidence instead.
  • On file: Biotin deficiency — rated "Likely Effective" (Natural Medicines).

Biotin is likely effective for biotin deficiency itself — if you're low in the vitamin, supplementing will correct it. For other uses like hair loss (alopecia areata), there isn't enough reliable evidence to say whether it works.

For multiple sclerosis and seborrheic dermatitis, the evidence leans toward it probably not being effective for those conditions.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Biotin is generally well tolerated, even at fairly high doses, because your body excretes excess amounts in your urine. High-dose biotin has rarely been linked to mild diarrhea — it was reported by a small number of people taking much higher doses (300 mg daily).

There is one isolated case report of a serious reaction, but it's unclear whether biotin alone was responsible or whether other medications or individual factors played a role. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, normal dietary amounts and amounts from prenatal vitamins are considered likely safe, but talk with your doctor before taking high-dose supplements like this one.

Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Is biotin safe to take while I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
Normal dietary amounts and amounts from prenatal vitamins are considered likely safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Since this is a high-dose supplement, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it — they can advise whether this dose is right for you during this time.
Can biotin actually make my hair grow back or stop hair loss?
There isn't enough reliable evidence to say biotin works for hair loss like alopecia areata. If you're experiencing hair loss, it's worth discussing the cause and options with your doctor.
What does biotin do in my body?

High-dose biotin is generally well tolerated. Mild diarrhea has been rarely reported at very high doses (much higher than this product). One isolated case of a serious reaction was reported, but it's unclear whether biotin alone was responsible.
Will my body store excess biotin or will it cause a buildup?
Your body excretes excess biotin in your urine, so buildup isn't a concern — that's why biotin is generally well tolerated even at fairly high doses.
Does this product have any fillers or other ingredients I should know about?
Yes, it contains inactive ingredients like sorbitol, fructose, natural fruit flavors, stearic acid, vegetable magnesium stearate, cellulose, and citric acid, which help form and flavor the tablet.
