Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: black walnut hulls extract. Black walnut has a long history in herbal use, though the evidence for specific health claims is limited.

The capsule itself is an inactive ingredient — just the container holding the extract.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

We hold no graded evidence for this product's ingredients for its stated purpose.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: intestinal system and digestive support.
  • We looked for evidence on: parasitic infections, intestinal health, digestive function.
  • Our graded evidence for these ingredients doesn't cover that particular purpose.

The evidence for black walnut isn't established in the data we hold. The product is marketed for coronary heart disease and wound healing, but the research on both is rated insufficient to draw firm conclusions.

If you're considering it for a specific health goal, talk it over with your doctor — they can help you weigh whether the current evidence makes sense for your situation.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Black walnut hulls extract is generally well tolerated for short-term use in most adults, though long-term safety hasn't been studied well in humans. The hull contains tannins, which can cause stomach upset or gastrointestinal discomfort in some people.

Tree nuts (including black walnuts) are a major food allergen — if you have a tree nut allergy, you should avoid this product. Pregnancy safety data advises against use; there isn't enough information to know whether it's safe while breastfeeding, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you're nursing.

No known interactions

No medication interactions are currently documented for the matched ingredients — that isn't a guarantee none exist.

Why this rating?
  • None of the 1 matched ingredient has a documented medication interaction on file.

No interactions are documented in our data for the ingredients we could check. That said, it's still worth confirming with your doctor or pharmacist before you begin, since safety data for long-term use are limited.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.

Black Walnut ATC is one to consider if you're interested in herbal support, but know that the evidence for what it does is still limited. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a tree nut allergy, you should skip it.
