Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product is straightforward — it contains one active ingredient, cinnamon bark extract, along with dextrin as an inactive filler. That's it.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for cinnamon bark extract isn't established in our data. We hold insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for amenorrhea, angina, common cold, diabetes, diarrhea, or dyslipidemia (abnormal blood lipids).
That doesn't mean it doesn't work; it means the research so far isn't solid enough to draw conclusions.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Cinnamon bark extract is generally well tolerated in food amounts. The safety concern comes with supplement doses, especially high or long-term use.
The coumarin in cinnamon can harm the liver if you're taking very large amounts for months — the safety data advises against medicinal or high-dose supplement amounts during pregnancy. A small number of trial participants reported a rash, and there's a case report of someone with a known cinnamon allergy developing eyelid dermatitis after eating cinnamon-containing foods.
One person in a trial also had a low blood sugar episode (hypoglycemia) while taking 1 gram daily, though it's unclear whether cinnamon caused it.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, double-check your medications for any that stress the liver (hepatotoxic drugs) or manage diabetes — both have moderate interactions with cinnamon bark extract that could affect how your drugs work.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you take diabetes medications or drugs that can stress your liver, talk to your pharmacist or doctor before starting this product — dose adjustments might be needed. People with a documented cinnamon or cinnamic alcohol allergy should skip it.
For everyone else, stick to moderate amounts and use it short-term rather than indefinitely.

Cinnamon Bark Extract by BulkSupplements.com Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Cinnamon Bark Extract by BulkSupplements.com can interact with medications, so it's worth a quick check before you start.
The main concern is with drugs that stress the liver (hepatotoxic drugs). In theory, large doses of this cinnamon extract might add to that burden over time, since cinnamon bark contains coumarin — a compound that can harm liver function with very high doses taken long-term.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
There's also a moderate interaction with diabetes medications. Cinnamon bark extract may lower blood sugar levels, so if you're taking insulin or other diabetes drugs, it could have an additive effect and potentially lower your blood sugar too much.
Your doctor might need to adjust your medication dose.
Although one person developed a rash in a trial and there's a case report of contact dermatitis to cinnamon in someone with a documented allergy, these are rare. Altogether, these interactions span 425 individual medications.
Use the medication checker below to run through your exact prescriptions before you add this supplement.

Cinnamon bark extract
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, cassia cinnamon may have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Cassia cinnamon may lower blood glucose levels, and have additive effects in patients treated with antidiabetic agents. Dose adjustments to diabetes medications might be necessary.
Hepatotoxic Drugs
Theoretically, large doses of cassia cinnamon might cause additive effects when used with hepatotoxic drugs.
There is some concern that ingesting large amounts of cassia cinnamon for an extended duration might cause hepatotoxicity in some people. Cassia cinnamon contains coumarin, which can cause hepatotoxicity in animal models. In humans, very high doses of coumarin from 50-7000 mg/day can result in hepatotoxicity that resolves when coumarin use is discontinued. Lower amounts might also cause liver problems in sensitive people, such as those with liver disease or those taking potentially hepatotoxic agents.
