What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains a single active ingredient: bovine colostrum, a nutrient-rich fluid produced by cows in the first few days after birth. It's meant to support digestive and immune health.
The product has no inactive ingredients listed.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence we hold shows bovine colostrum is possibly effective for HIV/AIDS-related diarrhea and rotaviral diarrhea, and possibly effective for exercise-induced respiratory infections. For necrotizing enterocolitis (a serious intestinal condition in newborns), the data suggests it's possibly ineffective.
For other uses, effectiveness data isn't established in what we hold.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Bovine colostrum is generally well tolerated in most adults. If you have a milk or dairy allergy, you should avoid it.
A small number of trial participants reported mild bloating, nausea, diarrhea, and unsettled stomach at rates similar to a control group. In people with HIV, it has caused nausea, vomiting, elevated liver function tests, and decreased blood oxygen-carrying capacity (hematocrit) in individual cases.
There isn't enough reliable safety data in pregnancy, so it's best to avoid it unless your doctor approves. Safety during breastfeeding is not well studied either — use caution and talk with your provider.
