Colostrum6 contains one active ingredient: bovine colostrum, which is the nutrient-rich fluid produced by cows in the first few days after birth. The capsules also contain gelatin, water, and glycerin as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Bovine colostrum has possibly effective evidence for two uses: HIV/AIDS-related diarrhea and rotaviral diarrhea (a common viral stomach infection). It's also possibly effective for exercise-induced respiratory infections.
The evidence is weaker for necrotizing enterocolitis (a serious intestinal condition in newborns), where it's been rated possibly ineffective. For other digestive or immune purposes not listed here, we don't have established evidence on file.
How safe is it?

Bovine colostrum is generally well tolerated in most adults. However, if you have a milk or dairy allergy, avoid this product — it comes from cow's milk.
Pregnancy safety data isn't reliable enough to recommend use without your doctor's approval. During breastfeeding, safety hasn't been well studied, so talk with your provider before taking it.
In clinical trials, a small number of people reported mild nausea, vomiting, bloating, diarrhea, or stomach upset. Rarely, it's been associated with elevated liver enzymes and low red blood cell counts in HIV patients being treated for infectious diarrhea.
