What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: D-mannose, a simple sugar that your body handles differently than regular glucose. The capsule also contains gelatin, silica, and vegetable stearate as inactive ingredients to hold everything together and keep it shelf-stable.
Does it work?
Leans against
D-mannose is likely effective for carbohydrate-deficient glycoprotein syndrome type 1b, a rare genetic condition that affects how your body makes certain proteins. However, the evidence suggests it's possibly ineffective for urinary tract infections (UTIs) — meaning the data don't support it as a reliable treatment for that purpose, even though it's often marketed that way.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
D-mannose is generally well tolerated when taken short-term, but we don't have high-quality long-term safety data, so extended use should be discussed with your doctor first. The most common side effects are bloating, diarrhea, loose stools, and nausea — especially at higher doses or in people sensitive to it.
Safety data during pregnancy are not sufficient to know whether it's safe, so the evidence advises caution; safety while breastfeeding is also not well studied, so caution is advised there too. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about your individual situation before taking it during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
No known interactions
No interactions are documented for D-mannose in our data. Even so, it's smart to confirm with your own doctor or pharmacist that it's right for you alongside any medications or other supplements you're taking.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with graded evidence leaning against its stated purpose. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.
D-mannose may be worth considering if you have carbohydrate-deficient glycoprotein syndrome type 1b under your doctor's supervision, but it's not a reliable choice for UTI prevention or treatment. Most people tolerate it short-term, though digestive side effects like bloating and diarrhea can occur.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding safety are unclear — discuss this product with your doctor or pharmacist before starting if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing.

Formula
D-Mannose is a monosaccharide hexose sugar, naturally found in some trees, berries and fruits, such as cranberry. Although small amounts of D-Mannose are metabolized by the human body, much of it is rapidly excreted in the urine. In the bladder, D-Mannose can adhere to undesirable foreign substances, preventing them from sticking to the lining of the bladder.
