Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

BioAnue Essential Supplement contains one active ingredient: liver extract. Liver extract is derived from animal liver and provides nutrients naturally present in liver tissue.

The capsule itself is made from gelatin, an inactive ingredient that serves as the container.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Liver Extract product and its label doesn't state a use — see Liver Extract's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence for liver extract is limited. It's rated possibly ineffective for chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS).

For hepatitis C, there isn't enough reliable evidence to rate whether it works. We don't hold effectiveness data for other uses you might be considering.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

No adverse reactions have been formally reported, but a thorough safety evaluation hasn't been completed. Liver extract can deliver very high levels of vitamin A and iron, which matters especially during pregnancy—the safety data advises against use in pregnancy unless your doctor specifically recommends it.

There's also concern about the source: liver extract comes from raw animal liver from slaughterhouses, which could potentially carry contamination from sick animals. Some liver products from countries where BSE (bovine spongiform encephalopathy, a prion disease in cattle) has been reported carry a theoretical contamination risk, though no human BSE cases from liver extract have been documented.

Talk with your doctor before using.

Minor only

Only Minor-severity interactions are documented for these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Liver Extract.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Minor.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 3 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking this product, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take warfarin (Coumadin) or any blood thinners—liver extract may reduce their effectiveness. Also confirm if you're on iron supplements or iron-containing medications, since combining them could increase iron buildup and stomach upset.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Only minor medication interactions are documented, and safety information is well characterized.

Liver extract is generally low-risk for healthy adults in food amounts, but this supplement delivers concentrated levels of vitamin A and iron—nutrients you need to watch if you take other medications or supplements that contain them. If you take warfarin or iron medications, or if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or have an iron-storage condition, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.

The evidence for what this product actually does is very limited.

Iron

Liver extract can contain heme iron. Taking liver extract with iron-containing medications or supplements may increase total iron intake and could increase the risk of gastrointestinal adverse effects or excessive iron accumulation. The risk is greater with high doses, prolonged use, or in individuals with hemochromatosis or another iron-overload disorder. Review the iron content of the liver extract and the total elemental iron dose. Avoid unnecessary duplicate iron supplementation and consider monitoring ferritin and transferrin saturation when clinically appropriate.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Warfarin (Coumadin)

Liver extract products may contain small and variable amounts of vitamin K. Theoretically, starting, stopping, or substantially changing the amount of liver extract used could reduce the anticoagulant effect of warfarin and lower the INR. However, this interaction has not been directly studied or reported in humans, and the vitamin K content of liver extract products is generally not standardized. Consider monitoring the INR after a meaningful change in liver extract use.
