FloraSil Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Flora
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking FloraSil against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
FloraSil contains one active ingredient: silica, a naturally occurring mineral form of silicon. It's meant to support bone health and connective tissue.
The capsule also holds several inactive ingredients — microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, corn syrup solids, and magnesium stearate — which are fillers and binders that hold the capsule together.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
Silica is possibly effective for osteoporosis, according to the evidence we have on file. For hair loss (androgenic alopecia) and dental health around implants, the evidence isn't reliable enough yet to rate whether it works.
If bone health is your goal, that's where the research points most clearly.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Silica from food and typical supplement doses is generally well tolerated, though long-term and high-dose safety hasn't been thoroughly studied. The product's safety data advises against use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding, so if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it.
The serious adverse effects listed in the literature refer to inhaled crystalline silicon dust in occupational settings — a risk that doesn't apply to swallowing a capsule.
Meds to double-check
No known interactions
No interactions are documented for the ingredients we could check in FloraSil. That said, absence of documented interactions isn't a guarantee none exist, so run your current medications through the interaction checker on this page before starting.
The bottom line

FloraSil may be worth considering if you're looking to support bone health, since silica shows possible benefit for osteoporosis. Avoid it if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.
If you take medications regularly, check them against the tool on this page, and talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether this supplement fits your health plan.
