For pregnancy, the safety data on protease advises against use unless prescribed by your doctor, and lipase has little safety data in pregnancy so use only if your doctor recommends it.
While breastfeeding, neither ingredient has been well studied; check with your healthcare provider before taking it. Lipase can cause serious gastrointestinal effects, including abdominal distension, constipation, vomiting, and in rare cases necrotizing enterocolitis (a serious bowel condition), but this has been documented chiefly in premature infants given a recombinant form added to formula or breast milk — not in typical adult supplement use.
