Lactoferrin
Lactoferrin is a glycoprotein that has the ability to attach to iron. It is present in various bodily fluids like colostrum, nasal secretions, intestinal secretions, genital secretions, tears, saliva, and even seminal fluid in humans and animals. Neutrophils, a type of white blood cell, also release lactoferrin. This versatile protein can be obtained from human or bovine milk, and it can also be extracted from rice through recombinant technology.

Formula |
- Jarrow Formulas Freeze Dried Lactoferrin (Apolactoferrin) is an important immune supporting glycoprotein that is found in breast milk, tears and other body fluids. One of the biological activities of lactoferrin comes from its powerful ability to bind iron (300 times that of serum transferrin) and facilitate iron absorption. Lactoferrin also promotes the growth of bifidobacteria. Digestion of lactoferrin by gastric pepsin liberates the immune-supporting peptide lactoferricin B. Freeze drying better preserves the delicate structure of the lactoferrin.
