What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product has 1 active ingredient: lotus leaf extract (from Nelumbo nucifera). Lotus is a traditional herb used in Asian medicine.
The liquid also contains alcohol, water, and glycerin as inactive ingredients to preserve and deliver the extract.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for lotus leaf extract isn't established in our data. The product has been studied for nausea, sore throat, insomnia, weight management, heavy periods, and bleeding, but the data we hold shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for any of these uses.
That doesn't mean it doesn't work—just that the science we have on file isn't conclusive yet.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lotus is common as a food, but when used as a concentrated supplement, safety hasn't been well studied in humans. You should avoid medicinal doses of lotus supplements because we don't have enough safety data yet.
Allergic reactions like hives and skin rashes have been reported, especially after eating lotus root. Don't use this supplement while breastfeeding—there isn't enough safety data.
For pregnancy, safety data isn't on file, so talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your medications against lotus before starting, especially if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (risk of bleeding), antidiabetes medications (risk of low blood sugar), or pentobarbital or other sedatives.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you eat lotus as a food, that's different from this concentrated supplement. This product might interest someone looking for traditional herbal support, but if you take blood thinners, diabetes drugs, or barbiturate sedatives, you'll need to check with us first.
Talk with your pharmacist before starting—especially if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a history of allergic reactions.

He Ye by Herbal Terra Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Herbal Terra's He Ye contains lotus leaf extract, which does interact with several medication types.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (like aspirin or clopidogrel): lotus contains compounds that slow clotting, and combining it with these medications could raise your bleeding risk. This is rated Moderate severity.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Lotus also has Moderate interactions with diabetes medications. Animal studies show the extract lowers blood sugar and can boost insulin's effect, so if you're on antidiabetes drugs, you could experience low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) if you add this supplement.
Your blood sugar will need close monitoring and your dose may need adjusting.
Finally, lotus may increase sleepiness if you take pentobarbital (a barbiturate sedative), though this is based on animal data and hasn't been confirmed in humans. Altogether, these interactions span 211 individual medications.

For each ingredient in He Ye with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Nelumbo nucifera Leaf Extract, Dry
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, concurrent use of lotus with other antiplatelet drugs might reduce platelet aggregation and increase the risk of bleeding.
Neferine and isoliensinine, constituents of lotus, have been shown to inhibit platelet aggregation, in vitro. These constituents can inhibit the production of pro-aggregating factors like prostaglandins.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, lotus might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Animal research shows that the ethanolic extract of lotus reduces blood glucose levels and potentiates the effects of injected insulin. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary.
Pentobarbital (Nembutal)
Theoretically, taking lotus concomitantly with pentobarbital might increase sedation.
Animal research shows that lotus extract increases pentobarbitone-induced sleeping time. It is not known if this occurs in humans or if this effect occurs with other barbiturates or sedatives.
