What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains three active ingredients. Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring compound in your body that helps retain moisture in tissues, and Chondroitin Sulfate is a component of cartilage believed to support joint structure.
BioCell Collagen is a proprietary blend (we list its component ingredients separately), and Chicken Collagen Type II, Hydrolyzed is a broken-down form of collagen from chicken sources. The capsule also contains inactive ingredients: gelatin, rice flour, cellulose, ascorbyl palmitate, and silicon dioxide.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Hyaluronic Acid is possibly effective for dry eye and venous leg ulcers (slow-healing sores on the legs). For aging skin, allergic rhinitis (hay fever), and sexual dysfunction, the evidence isn't established in the data we hold.
Chondroitin Sulfate is possibly effective for cataracts and osteoarthritis (joint wear and tear). For aging skin, osteoporosis, high cholesterol, and colorectal adenoma, the evidence isn't established in the data we hold.
We don't have effectiveness data for BioCell Collagen or Chicken Collagen Type II, Hydrolyzed.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Hyaluronic Acid is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth or applied to skin, though long-term safety of supplements hasn't been fully studied. The safety data advises caution about oral supplements unless your doctor clears it.
When applied topically, it can occasionally cause eczema, redness, itching, or wound infection; rare eye drops containing it have caused eye pain. Chondroitin Sulfate is generally well tolerated for short-term use, though quality varies.
Oral use may cause stomach pain, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, heartburn, or nausea. Rarely, it's been linked to liver damage, skin rash, swelling, or hair loss.
There isn't enough safety information to recommend it during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Blood thinners like warfarin (Coumadin) — chondroitin may increase their anticoagulant effect. If you're on any prescription medication, especially warfarin, check it against this product before you start.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you have dry eyes or joint pain from wear-and-tear arthritis, this product's ingredients have some evidence behind them. If you take warfarin or other blood thinners, talk to your pharmacist before starting — chondroitin may boost their effect.
Pregnant or breastfeeding people should check with their doctor first, since safety data is limited.

Chondroitin Sulfate
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Taking chondroitin in combination with glucosamine might increase the anticoagulant effects of warfarin. However, the effect of chondroitin alone is unclear.
There have been multiple reports of increased international normalized ratio (INR) in patients taking warfarin with glucosamine, with or without chondroitin. The lack of reports with chondroitin alone seem to suggest that the interactions occurring in these reports may have been due to glucosamine. In two individual case reports, glucosamine/chondroitin combinations were associated with a significant increase in INR in patients previously stabilized on warfarin. Additionally, 20 voluntary case reports to the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) have linked glucosamine plus chondroitin with increased INR, bruising, and bleeding in patients who were also taking warfarin. There have also been 20 additional case reports to the World Health Organization (WHO) that link glucosamine alone, without chondroitin, to increased INR in patients taking warfarin.
