How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Idebenone is generally well tolerated. In studies, it's caused no serious side effects more often than placebo.
Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and loose stools have occurred in some people but aren't common. Even high doses (up to 2250 mg daily) have been well tolerated.
There's one case report of an allergic skin reaction to topical idebenone cream, and one person reported a rapid heartbeat while taking it orally, though treatment wasn't needed. The safety data advises against use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding because there isn't enough information to know whether it's safe in those situations.

Idebenone, studies have shown Idebenone to be an effective support for cardiac and all mitochondrial issues such as MS, Friedreich's ataxia and Leber's eye disease, macular degeneration, and ALS ((Lou Gehrig's Disease). Idebenone has also been shown to support the Corpus callosum, the contralateral axonal fibers known as a white matter that connect the left and right cerebral hemispheres of our brain. As such, Idebenone demonstrates an ability to support higher brain functions, memory deficit and brain toxicity issues. Idebenone is highly recommended by the modern medical community for those taking statin (high cholesterol) drugs.
