Lycopene from food is generally well tolerated, and supplement doses are likewise generally well tolerated. Possible side effects from lycopene supplements include diarrhea, gas, abdominal bloating, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, and loss of appetite.

One case of chest pain was reported with a specific lycopene product, though the link to lycopene itself wasn't confirmed.
