What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains a single active ingredient: Setria L-Glutathione at 500 mg per capsule. L-glutathione is a small protein (called a tripeptide) made by your cells — it acts as an antioxidant, helping protect cells from damage and supporting your body's natural detoxification processes.
The capsule itself is vegetarian delayed-release material, designed to break down in your small intestine rather than your stomach.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for L-glutathione is mixed. It's rated possibly effective for reducing nerve damage caused by the chemotherapy drug cisplatin.
For other conditions — nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, Alzheimer disease, athletic performance, and cataracts — the evidence isn't established in the data we hold. If you're considering this product for one of those uses, talk with your doctor about whether the current research supports trying it.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Oral L-glutathione appears generally well tolerated in the short term, though long-term safety hasn't been fully worked out. The safety information for pregnancy isn't sufficient, so the data advises against use unless your doctor says otherwise.
The same goes for breastfeeding — there isn't enough reliable information, so caution and avoidance are recommended. One important note: inhaled (nebulized) glutathione can narrow the airways and cause shortness of breath or cough in people with asthma; this product is a capsule, not inhaled, but that's worth knowing if you ever encounter other forms.
Meds to double-check
No known interactions
No interactions are documented in our data for the ingredient in this product. That doesn't mean none exist — just that we haven't found documented ones.
If you're on any regular medications, a quick conversation with your pharmacist is never a bad idea.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.
L-glutathione may be worth considering if your doctor has suggested it for cisplatin-related nerve damage. For other uses, the evidence isn't clear yet.
If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or have asthma, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting — the safety data for pregnancy and breastfeeding advises against it unless your doctor specifically recommends it.
