What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: methylene blue, a pharmaceutical-grade compound at 1% concentration in liquid form. It also contains electrolytic iron as an inactive ingredient.
Methylene blue is a real drug — not simply a supplement — and carries genuine risks alongside its uses.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The product facts we hold do not include effectiveness ratings for methylene blue in this form or dose. The data available focuses on its safety profile and drug interactions rather than its clinical benefit for any particular purpose.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Methylene blue is generally well tolerated when used as prescribed in pharmaceutical forms, though how it behaves in supplemental or non-prescription products remains unclear. Oral use may cause abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, and blue or green discoloration of urine and stool.
More serious effects — including hemolytic anemia and methemoglobinemia (a blood condition affecting oxygen) — have been reported. Because methylene blue is linked to harm to a developing baby, it should be avoided in pregnancy unless a doctor determines it's necessary.
There isn't enough safety information to use it while breastfeeding, so you should talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you in that situation.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on serotonergic drugs (antidepressants, tramadol, linezolid, and others that raise serotonin) or anticholinergic drugs (used for overactive bladder, Parkinson's disease, or other conditions). These are the main medication types documented to interact with methylene blue, and the risks are real.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Methylene Blue Pharmaceutical Grade 1% Solution is a real drug, not a casual supplement, and requires careful consideration before use. It interacts with a significant number of medications — particularly antidepressants and other serotonergic drugs, and anticholinergic medications.
Speak with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's appropriate for your situation and to confirm it won't interfere with any medications you take.

Methylene Blue Pharmaceutical Grade 1% Solution by Nature's Purest Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Methylene Blue Pharmaceutical Grade 1% Solution by Nature's Purest carries documented interactions with medications through its single active ingredient, methylene blue.
The most serious concern is with serotonergic drugs (antidepressants, certain pain relievers, and others that affect serotonin) — combining them with methylene blue can cause serotonin syndrome, a potentially life-threatening buildup of serotonin in your system. Intravenous or inhaled methylene blue has resulted in serotonin syndrome, including fatalities, in patients taking some of these drugs.

You'll also want to be careful if you take anticholinergic drugs (medications that block a certain nervous system signal, used for conditions like overactive bladder or Parkinson's disease). Methylene blue can amplify their effects, raising the risk of side effects like dry mouth, fever, and dilated pupils.
A case report documented a serious anticholinergic crisis in a critically ill patient given methylene blue.
Altogether, these interactions span 315 individual medications. Before you start this product, check your exact medications with the search tool on this page or talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist.

Methylene Blue
Anticholinergic Drugs
Concomitant use may increase anticholinergic effects and adverse effects. In a case report, a critically-ill male in his mid-60s developed a toxicological process attributed to anticholinergic syndrome following treatment with methylene blue for vasoplegia. Symptoms included anhidrosis, fever, lactic acidosis, mucosal dryness, and pupil dilation. Potential exacerbating factors included renal failure and use of fentanyl intra-operatively.
Serotonergic Drugs
Combining serotonergic drugs with methylene blue can cause additive serotonergic effects, including serotonin syndrome. Methylene blue inhibits monoamine oxidase A. Intravenous or intrapulmonary use has resulted in serotonin syndrome, including reported fatalities, in patients taking some serotonergic drugs. This effect has not been reported with oral methylene blue. However, tell patients to avoid taking methylene blue with serotonergic drugs.
