What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking MK-7 against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. What’s inside
Full disclosure
Healthy Directions MK-7 contains one active ingredient: menaquinone-7, a form of vitamin K. The softgel also contains inactive ingredients (medium chain triglycerides, gelatin, glycerin, olive oil, and purified water) that help deliver and form the capsule.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Menaquinone-7 is effective for treating vitamin K deficiency conditions, including hypoprothrombinemia (a blood clotting disorder), vitamin K-dependent clotting factor deficiency, hemorrhagic disease, and reversing warfarin anticoagulation when needed. It's possibly effective for osteoporosis based on current evidence.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Vitamin K taken by mouth is generally well tolerated. The most common side effects are mild gastrointestinal ones: nausea, diarrhea, stomach upset, and abdominal pain.
These side effects are not serious. Menaquinone-7 is rated likely safe during pregnancy and lactation.
That said, dietary amounts of vitamin K are fine, but you should check with your doctor before taking supplements—especially important if you're on any blood thinner.
Meds to double-check
Major interaction found
If you take warfarin (Coumadin) or any blood thinner medication, check with your doctor before starting MK-7. Vitamin K can reduce how well these drugs work, which could increase your clot risk.
No other interactions are documented for the ingredients we checked.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Major medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
MK-7 is a straightforward vitamin K supplement useful if you have a documented deficiency or your doctor recommends it for bone health. The key caution is warfarin and blood thinners—if you take one, talk to your doctor before starting.
Otherwise, for healthy people not on these medications, it's generally well tolerated. Always mention new supplements to your own pharmacist or doctor before you begin.
