What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: molybdenum citrate, a form of the mineral molybdenum. Molybdenum is a cofactor for several enzymes in your body that help break down certain amino acids and other compounds.
The capsule itself is filled with microcrystalline cellulose (a plant-based binder) and enclosed in gelatin.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Molybdenum is likely effective for preventing or treating molybdenum deficiency, which is rare in people eating a typical diet. For acne, iron-deficiency anemia, asthma, osteoporosis, and esophageal cancer, the evidence isn't established — we don't have enough reliable data to say whether this supplement would help.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
When taken in appropriate doses — staying under 2 mg per day — molybdenum is generally well tolerated. The caution here is that high-dose supplements can cause problems and are rarely necessary.
One case report describes severe toxicity (hallucinations, seizures, brain damage) from very high doses of 300–800 micrograms daily over several weeks, which far exceeds what you'd get from food or this supplement if used as directed. Additionally, people with molybdenum-sensitive stainless steel stents may want to avoid supplementation without medical guidance.
In pregnancy, the evidence is mixed: dietary amounts are likely safe, but one safety rating flags a possibly unsafe concern with high-dose supplements — talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether to take this while pregnant. For breastfeeding, dietary and supplemental amounts appear likely safe, though the data on this are limited.

The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.
This supplement is for people whose doctor suspects or has confirmed a molybdenum deficiency, or those who want to ensure adequate intake of a mineral found mainly in legumes, grains, and nuts. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, have molybdenum-sensitive stents, or take any regular medications, talk it over with your own doctor or pharmacist first to make sure it's right for you.
