Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: monolaurin, at a 90% concentration in powder form. Monolaurin is a compound derived from lauric acid, a fatty acid that occurs naturally in coconut oil and other sources.

There are no inactive ingredients (fillers or binders) listed.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Monolaurin product and its label doesn't state a use — see Monolaurin's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence on monolaurin for bacterial vaginosis is insufficient to rate — we don't have reliable data yet on how well it works for that purpose. If you're considering it for this or another reason, talk it over with your doctor about what the current evidence shows and whether it's a fit for your situation.

How safe is it?

Some data gaps
Safety Information · database check
Some gaps

Safety data exists for these ingredients, but with some important gaps.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 0 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Monolaurin is generally well tolerated in food-related amounts, but supplement safety hasn't been well studied in humans, so there's a real gap in what we know. During pregnancy, there isn't enough safety data, so it's best to avoid it.

While lauric acid occurs naturally in breast milk, supplement safety while breastfeeding is unknown — use caution and check with your doctor before taking it.

No known interactions

No medication interactions are currently documented for the matched ingredients — that isn't a guarantee none exist.

Why this rating?
  • None of the 1 matched ingredient has a documented medication interaction on file.

No interactions are documented for monolaurin in our data. That doesn't mean none exist — the supplement science here is still developing.

Check with your own doctor or pharmacist before adding it to your routine, especially if you take any regular medications.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. No medication interactions are currently documented, and some safety-information gaps remain.

Monolaurin is a single-ingredient supplement with no documented drug interactions. The main caution is that human safety data is limited, especially in pregnancy and while breastfeeding.

If you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing, or if you have questions about whether it's right for you, talk with your doctor or pharmacist first.
