General Statements
- HOW IT WORKS: Palmitoleic Acid is an Omega-7 fatty acid (FA) that is naturally found in a variety of plant seeds, including sea buckthorn and macadamia nuts, and is normally present in bodily tissues. Scientific investigation is ongoing with regard to potential roles of Palmitoleic Acid in the maintenance of hepatic lipid and glucose metabolism, as well as in pancreatic beta-cell function.* Its mechanisms of action are different than those of omega-3 FA and it has been suggested that dietary Omega-7 helps to maintain the proper regulation of internally synthesized palmitoleic acid.*
