HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Oreganol Mediterranean Source P73 by North American Herb & Spice
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: wild oregano oil. Oregano oil is a concentrated extract from the oregano plant and is much stronger than the dried herb you'd sprinkle on food.
The softgel also includes tapioca and vegetable gelatin as inactive ingredients to hold the oil in capsule form.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we have on file for wild oregano oil doesn't establish that it works reliably for acne, bronchitis, asthma, headache, or upper respiratory infections. For all of these uses, the data shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate its effectiveness.
If you're considering this product for one of those reasons, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about what the research actually supports.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Wild oregano oil is generally well tolerated in food amounts, but concentrated supplements are stronger and less studied in large doses. The most common side effect is gastrointestinal upset.
Rarely, people sensitive to oregano or related plants (like thyme) have had serious allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis. During pregnancy, avoid medicinal or supplement amounts of oregano oil; food amounts are likely fine.
While breastfeeding, stick to normal food amounts because the safety of oregano supplements isn't established. If you have a history of allergies to plants in the mint family, let your pharmacist know before taking this.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking Oreganol P73, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (such as warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel) — oregano oil may increase bleeding risk. Also confirm it's okay if you take diabetes medications, since oregano may lower blood sugar.
No other medication interactions are documented for this ingredient.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Oreganol P73 is a concentrated oregano oil supplement that may affect how your blood thinners and diabetes medications work. If you take either type of drug, check your exact medications with your pharmacist or doctor before starting this product.
Pregnant or breastfeeding people should avoid supplement amounts. Talk it over with your own healthcare provider to see if it's right for you.
