Oregon Leaf Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Gaia Herbs
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Oregon Leaf against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What’s inside
Full disclosure
Oregon Leaf contains one active ingredient: organic oregano leaf extract. This liquid form also includes organic alcohol and water as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold doesn't establish that oregano works for acne, bronchitis, asthma, headache, or upper respiratory tract infections — each is rated as having insufficient reliable evidence to rate. If you're considering oregano for one of these reasons, you'd be using it without proven benefit from the data we have.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Oregano from food amounts is generally well tolerated. The main side effect in trials is mild stomach upset.
Rare serious reactions — including allergic reactions and anaphylaxis — have been reported in people sensitive to oregano or other herbs in its plant family (mint family). Concentrated oregano oil supplements are stronger and less studied than food oregano, so caution is wise.
The safety data advises against medicinal amounts during pregnancy; food amounts are likely fine. For breastfeeding, there isn't enough data to know either way — talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether to use it.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Double-check this supplement before you start if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel) — oregano may increase bleeding risk. Also check it with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on diabetes medications, because oregano might lower blood sugar and increase the risk of low blood sugar.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Oregon Leaf is best for people who aren't taking blood thinners, antiplatelet drugs, or diabetes medications. If you use any of those, check with your own doctor or pharmacist first — the interaction risk is real, though it's based partly on lab findings rather than human trials.
If you have a history of allergies to mint-family plants, be cautious. The evidence for its effectiveness in the conditions listed isn't established yet.

Oregon Leaf by Gaia Herbs Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Gaia Herbs Oregon Leaf is a single-ingredient oregano extract supplement that does interact with medications.
The main concern is with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel) — oregano may increase bleeding risk, because lab research shows it can slow blood clotting and reduce platelet clumping.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Oregano also interacts with diabetes medications. It may lower blood sugar (glucose) based on animal and lab studies, which could raise the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) if you're already taking insulin or oral diabetes drugs.
Altogether, these interactions span 208 individual medications. If you take any blood thinner, antiplatelet drug, or diabetes medication, check your exact drugs with the search tool on this page before starting this supplement.
