What’s inside

The capsule shell is an inactive ingredient — a standard softgel vehicle.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Pumpkin seed oil is possibly effective for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a common condition in older men where the prostate gland enlarges. For androgenic alopecia (hair loss), interstitial cystitis (bladder pain), intestinal parasite infection, and urinary tract infections, the evidence we hold is insufficient to rate whether it works.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Pumpkin seed oil is generally well tolerated when taken orally. The most common side effects in trials are mild abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting.
Very rarely, anaphylaxis (a severe allergic reaction) has been reported. There are also two case reports of hair loss occurring 1–3 weeks after eating bitter-tasting pumpkin or squash, attributed to high levels of a compound called cucurbitacin found in wild varieties.
Pregnancy and lactation safety data is not on file for this product. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Lithium is the medication type you should double-check before taking this product. Pumpkin seed oil may reduce how your body clears lithium and raise its levels, potentially requiring a dose adjustment.
