Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: Vitamin B7, also called biotin. It's a B vitamin your body uses to help convert food into energy and maintain healthy skin, hair, and nails.

The powder form means you're getting biotin on its own with no other fillers or inactive ingredients.

Strong evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Strong

Clinical evidence supports at least one of this product's ingredients for its stated purpose.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: support hair, skin, and nail health.
  • We looked for evidence on: Biotin deficiency, Brittle nails, Hair loss, Hair thinning, Skin condition.
  • The strongest evidence on file: Biotin is rated "Likely Effective" for Biotin deficiency (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Biotin is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Brittle nails.

Biotin is likely effective for treating biotin deficiency — a real but uncommon shortage of this vitamin. For other uses, the evidence isn't as strong.

It's been studied for hair loss (alopecia areata), seborrheic dermatitis (a scaly skin condition), and multiple sclerosis, but the data we hold rates those uses as either possibly ineffective or lacking enough reliable evidence to say either way.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Biotin is generally well tolerated, even at fairly high doses, because your body excretes excess amounts in urine. High-dose biotin has rarely been linked to mild diarrhea; one trial reported this in 2 patients taking 300 mg daily.

One case report described a serious allergic reaction (eosinophilic pleuropericarditis) in a woman taking 10 mg biotin with other supplements and medications, though it's unclear whether biotin was the cause. For pregnancy and breastfeeding, biotin from food and prenatal vitamins is considered likely safe.

Before taking high-dose biotin supplements, talk with your doctor — normal dietary and supplement amounts are fine, but higher doses deserve a conversation first.
