What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: choline DL-bitartrate, a form of choline, which is a nutrient your body uses to make acetylcholine—a chemical messenger in your brain and nervous system—and to support cell membranes and fat transport. There are no other active ingredients.
The product comes as a powder with no inactive ingredients listed.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for choline DL-bitartrate varies by use. For athletic performance, the data suggests it's possibly ineffective.
For age-related cognitive decline, Alzheimer disease, bronchitis, hay fever, liver problems related to IV nutrition (TPN-associated hepatic steatosis), and other conditions, we don't have enough reliable evidence to say whether it works. If you're considering it for a specific health goal, your doctor or pharmacist can help you weigh what's known.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Choline is well tolerated when taken in food amounts and lower supplement doses. The tolerable upper limit is 3.5 grams daily; doses above that can bring on side effects.
At high doses of at least 9 grams daily, choline may cause diarrhea, nausea, salivation, sweating, vomiting, and a fishy body odor from how your gut breaks it down. Very high doses (32 grams or more) have been linked to more severe gastrointestinal problems.
Choline is important during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but the safety data advises using only prenatal or supplement doses as your doctor recommends—don't self-dose. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about what's right for you and your situation.
Meds to double-check
Minor interactions only
Before taking this product, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take atropine or any other anticholinergic medications (drugs that work against acetylcholine effects). No other drug interactions are documented in our data for the ingredients we hold monographs on, but that doesn't guarantee none exist—your pharmacist can search your full medication list against this product.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Only minor medication interactions are documented, and safety information is well characterized.
Choline DL-bitartrate is a single-ingredient powder that's generally well tolerated at appropriate doses, though the evidence for most health claims isn't firmly established. It's not right for athletic performance, and you should check with your doctor before taking it if you're on any medications—especially anticholinergic drugs.
Pregnant or breastfeeding? Choline matters, but get your dose plan from your own healthcare provider.

Choline DL-Bitartrate by BulkSupplements.com Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Choline DL-Bitartrate by BulkSupplements.com has one documented interaction: with atropine, a medication used for certain eye conditions and sometimes as an antidote to nerve agent poisoning.
Theoretically, choline might reduce how well atropine works in the brain by raising acetylcholine levels, though the evidence comes from animal studies rather than humans taking both together.

Atropine
Theoretically, choline might decrease the effects of atropine in the brain.
Animal research shows that administering choline one hour before administering atropine can attenuate atropine-induced decreases in brain levels of acetylcholine. Theoretically, concomitant use of choline and atropine may decrease the effects of atropine.
