Red Yeast Rice
Red yeast rice is a type of fermented rice produced by the cultivation of a type of yeast called Monascus purpureus. The rice is soaked in water and then allowed to ferment with the yeast for several weeks. During the fermentation process, the rice turns a deep red color and develops a distinctive, slightly sweet, and sour taste. Red yeast rice has a long history of use in traditional medicine and has been used as a natural remedy for a range of health conditions, including high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and heart disease. Red yeast rice is thought to work by inhibiting the production of cholesterol in the liver and by helping to improve circulation. Red yeast rice contains a compound known as mevinolin, which is identical to the FDA-approved drug lovastatin.

- Directions for Use: Take 2 capsules 2 times per day (morning and evening) with water at mealtimes.

- Keep out of the reach of children.
- WARNING: This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. DO NOT use Red Yeast Rice if you • are pregnant, can become pregnant, or are breast feeding (unborn and developing children need proper amounts of cholesterol for healthy growth and development); • have undergone an organ transplant or major surgery within the past six weeks; • are under 20 years of age; • have active liver disease or history of liver disease; • consume more than 2 drinks of alcohol per day; • are allergic to soy or rice products. It should not be taken in combination with grapefruit products or prescription cholesterol lowering drugs.
- As with any dietary supplement, consult a physician if you are taking any prescription medication.
- Do not take more than 4 capsules in a 24-hour period. Immediately discontinue use if you experience any unexplained muscle pain or tenderness, especially if accompanied by flu-like symptoms.
- Do not use if tamper or freshness seals are broken or missing.
