Rheumatol Forte Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Rheumatol Forte against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Rheumatol Forte has three active ingredients. Chondroitin sulfate is a compound found naturally in cartilage, used here to support joint health.
Hyaluronic acid is a substance your body naturally produces — it helps keep tissues hydrated and cushioned. Collagen is a structural protein that forms the framework of connective tissue.
The capsule itself contains gelatin, calcium stearate, and silicon dioxide as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for this product's ingredients is mixed. Chondroitin sulfate is possibly effective for osteoarthritis and cataracts, but the evidence for aging skin, osteoporosis, high cholesterol, and colorectal polyp prevention is insufficient — we just don't have solid data.
Hyaluronic acid is possibly effective for dry eye and venous leg ulcers (slow-healing leg wounds), but again, evidence for aging skin, hay fever, and sexual dysfunction is insufficient. We hold no effectiveness data for collagen.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Chondroitin sulfate is generally well tolerated for short-term use, though quality varies. Common side effects when taken by mouth include abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, heartburn, and nausea.
Rarer side effects include skin symptoms like swelling of the eyelids or lower legs, hair loss, rash, and, in combination products, hives or water retention around the eyes. One case of asthma flare-up and one of sun sensitivity have been reported with glucosamine-chondroitin combinations.
Hyaluronic acid is also generally well tolerated but lacks long-term safety study for supplements. The facts don't contain enough safety information for collagen.
Because chondroitin lacks adequate safety data, avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding — talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether this product is right for you if you're pregnant, nursing, or planning either.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Double-check with us if you take warfarin (Coumadin) or any blood thinner — chondroitin may increase its effect and thin your blood more than intended. No interactions are documented for the other ingredients we could check (hyaluronic acid), but we hold no data for collagen.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you're dealing with osteoarthritis or dry eyes and don't take warfarin or other blood thinners, Rheumatol Forte may be worth discussing with your pharmacist. If you take any blood thinner, check with us first.
Pregnant or nursing? Skip it unless your doctor says otherwise.
The evidence for some uses is solid; for others, it's still uncertain.

Rheumatol Forte by Ecological Formulas Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Rheumatol Forte by Ecological Formulas contains chondroitin sulfate, which has documented interactions with blood thinners.
The main concern is warfarin (Coumadin): when chondroitin is combined with glucosamine, it may increase warfarin's blood-thinning effects, raising your INR (a measure of how long it takes your blood to clot). The effect of chondroitin alone is less clear, but reports exist of higher INR levels in patients taking warfarin with glucosamine, whether or not chondroitin was also present.

We could not check collagen for interactions — we hold no data for that ingredient. Hyaluronic acid, the third active ingredient, has no interactions documented in our data.
Altogether, these interactions span 2 individual medications. If you take warfarin or any other blood thinner, run your exact medication through the checker on this page before starting this product.

Chondroitin Sulfate
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Taking chondroitin in combination with glucosamine might increase the anticoagulant effects of warfarin. However, the effect of chondroitin alone is unclear.
There have been multiple reports of increased international normalized ratio (INR) in patients taking warfarin with glucosamine, with or without chondroitin. The lack of reports with chondroitin alone seem to suggest that the interactions occurring in these reports may have been due to glucosamine. In two individual case reports, glucosamine/chondroitin combinations were associated with a significant increase in INR in patients previously stabilized on warfarin. Additionally, 20 voluntary case reports to the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) have linked glucosamine plus chondroitin with increased INR, bruising, and bleeding in patients who were also taking warfarin. There have also been 20 additional case reports to the World Health Organization (WHO) that link glucosamine alone, without chondroitin, to increased INR in patients taking warfarin.
