HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Tart Cherry Concentrate by Dynamic Health
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product is a liquid concentrate made from tart cherries. It's a single-ingredient supplement, so what you're getting is the tart cherry extract itself with no other active ingredients.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for tart cherry is mixed. It's possibly effective for athletic performance.
For exercise-induced muscle soreness, cognitive function, ADHD, fibromyalgia, and exercise-induced respiratory infections, the evidence isn't established in the data we hold — we just don't have enough reliable studies yet to say whether it works for those uses.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Tart cherry is generally well tolerated when you eat the whole fruit or drink the juice. The catch is that concentrated supplements like this one are less studied than the fruit itself, so the safety data is thinner.
The most common side effects reported are abdominal pain, loose stools, and general stomach upset. A small number of people in trials experienced these, and one case of a possible skin reaction from cherry allergy has been reported.
Because concentrated products lack the safety data we have for the fresh fruit, it's wise to use caution.
Meds to double-check
No known interactions
No interactions are documented in our data for the ingredients we could check. That said, use the search tool below to verify your exact medications — it's the best way to be certain.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.
If you're interested in tart cherry for athletic performance, this concentrate may be worth a try. Because the concentrated form is less studied than eating the fruit, start with a smaller amount and see how your stomach tolerates it.
If you have a history of cherry allergy or sensitive digestion, chat with us first. And if you take any regular medications, check them against this product before you start.
