What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Thyroset against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Thyroset contains four active ingredients. L-tyrosine is an amino acid that serves as a building block for thyroid hormones and neurotransmitters.
The product also includes wild, raw kelp (a source of iodine and minerals), wild rosemary (an herb traditionally used in herbal medicine), and wild oregano. One inactive ingredient, pullulan, is a capsule binder.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
L-tyrosine is rated effective for phenylketonuria (PKU) and possibly effective for cognitive function and memory. It's rated possibly ineffective for athletic performance and has insufficient evidence to rate for alcohol use disorder and dementia.
Rosemary is rated possibly effective for memory but has insufficient evidence for other claimed uses like age-related cognitive decline and liver health. Oregano has insufficient evidence for all the conditions we've checked, including acne, bronchitis, asthma, headache, and upper respiratory infections.
We hold no effectiveness data for kelp.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
L-tyrosine is generally well tolerated in healthy adults, but the safety data isn't complete — talk to your doctor before regular use. The most common side effects in trials were fatigue, headache, heartburn, and nausea.
Rosemary is safe in normal food amounts; medicinal doses should be avoided in pregnancy, and there isn't enough safety data on medicinal doses while breastfeeding. Oregano is safe as a food but concentrated supplements are less studied — avoid medicinal amounts during pregnancy and stick to food amounts while breastfeeding.
Topical rosemary can cause allergic reactions and dermatitis in sensitive people. Oregano is generally well tolerated orally in food amounts, though larger medicinal doses carry limited safety data; allergic contact dermatitis and rare systemic allergic reactions (including anaphylaxis) have been reported in sensitive individuals.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your medications against this product if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (moderate interaction with rosemary and oregano), blood sugar medications like diabetes drugs (moderate interaction with rosemary and oregano), levodopa for Parkinson's disease (moderate interaction with L-tyrosine), thyroid hormone medications (moderate interaction with L-tyrosine), aspirin or aspirin-like pain relievers including choline magnesium trisalicylate and salsalate (moderate interaction with rosemary), or any drugs your liver breaks down via the CYP1A2 pathway (minor interaction with rosemary). Use the search tool on this page with your specific medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Thyroset may work for memory support based on its tyrosine and rosemary content, but the overall evidence is modest. If you take blood thinners, diabetes medications, Parkinson's drugs, thyroid hormones, or aspirin-type pain relievers, you need to check your exact medications with our tool before starting.

Thyroset by North American Herb & Spice Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Thyroset by North American Herb & Spice contains four ingredients, three of which we've checked for drug interactions.
The product does interact with a number of medications, with the most serious being blood thinners (anticoagulants) and antiplatelet drugs — both rosemary and oregano may increase bleeding risk if you're on these medications.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
L-tyrosine has moderate interactions with levodopa (used for Parkinson's disease), where it may decrease the drug's effectiveness by competing for absorption — you'd need to space the doses at least two hours apart. Tyrosine also theoretically has additive effects with thyroid hormone medications, which could increase thyroid hormone levels.
Rosemary carries moderate concerns with blood sugar medications (antidiabetes drugs) and salicylate-containing pain relievers like aspirin, choline magnesium trisalicylate, and salsalate. Oregano shares the blood thinner and blood sugar concerns.
Additionally, rosemary may have minor effects on how your liver processes certain medications (CYP1A2 substrates).
We could not check wild, raw kelp — we hold no data for that ingredient. Altogether, these interactions span 392 individual medications.
Use the medication checker below with your exact drugs before starting Thyroset.

For each ingredient in Thyroset with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
wild Rosemary
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, rosemary may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro and animal research suggests that rosemary inhibits platelet aggregation.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking rosemary with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Animal research shows that rosemary extract can decrease blood glucose levels in diabetic models. However, research in humans is conflicting. Although rosemary powder decreased blood glucose levels in healthy adults, no change in blood glucose levels was seen in adults with type 2 diabetes, most of whom were taking antidiabetes drugs.
Aspirin
Theoretically, rosemary might have additive effects with salicylate-containing drugs such as aspirin.
Rosemary is reported to contain salicylates.
Choline Magnesium Trisalicylate (Trilisate)
Theoretically, rosemary might have additive effects with salicylate-containing drugs such as choline magnesium trisalicylate.
Rosemary is reported to contain salicylate.
Salsalate (Disalcid)
Theoretically, rosemary might have additive effects with salicylate-containing drugs such as salsalate.
Rosemary is reported to contain salicylate.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, rosemary might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that rosemary induces CYP1A2 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Oregano, Wild
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, oregano might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro research shows that aristolochic acid isolated from oregano leaves has antithrombin activity. It has also been reported that oregano oil inhibits arachidonic acid-induced, and ADP-induced, platelet aggregation.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, oregano might increase the risk for hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
In vitro and animal research shows that oregano extracts might lower blood glucose levels.
L-Tyrosine
Levodopa
Theoretically, tyrosine might decrease the effectiveness of levodopa.
Tyrosine and levodopa compete for absorption in the proximal duodenum by the large neutral amino acid (LNAA) transport system. Advise patients to separate doses of tyrosine and levodopa by at least 2 hours.
Thyroid Hormone
Theoretically, tyrosine might have additive effects with thyroid hormone medications.
Tyrosine is a precursor to thyroxine and might increase levels of thyroid hormones.
