Andrew Lessman's Vitamin K2 MK-7 60 provides the most beneficial form of vitamin K in the form of vitamin K2 menaquinone-7 (K2 MK-7). Vitamin K2 MK-7 is now recognized as essential for bone and heart health through its role in regulating calcium metabolism. Unlike typical vitamin K1 and its role in blood clotting, vitamin K2 MK-7 is unique given its essential role in calcium utilization and thus bone, heart and circulatory health. Essentially, K2 MK-7 promotes the retention of calcium in healthy bone while inhibiting undesirable calcification in tissues such as arteries, heart valves, etc. By reducing calcification, K2 MK-7 promotes flexible, resilient arteries and heart valves - a defining characteristic of cardiovascular health. In short, K2 MK-7 help our body retain calcium where required (our bones) and reduce deposits where calcification is to be avoided. Unfortunately, there is no meaningful source of K2 MK-7 in the American diet, so achieving these desirable heart and bone health benefits requires supplementation of this essential vitamin.
