YinVive Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by ActiveHerb
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking YinVive against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of YinVive by ActiveHerb
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
YinVive contains six active ingredients, most of them traditional Chinese medicine extracts. The Proprietary Blend Extract combines multiple components listed separately.
The other five actives are Tree Peony Root Bark Extract, Asiatic Dogwood fruit without seed extract, Chinese Yam rhizome extract, Poria Sclerotium (mushroom) Extract, Asian Water Plantain Rhizome Extract, and Rehmannia Root Tuber Extract (cured). The capsule also contains inactive ingredients: hypromellose, dextrin, and magnesium stearate, which are standard binders and flow agents.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for most of YinVive's ingredients is not established in our data. Rehmannia Root Tuber Extract is rated possibly effective for chronic kidney disease — that's the strongest rating we hold.
For the other ingredients, the data shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate their effectiveness for aging skin, anal fissures, atherosclerosis, chronic fatigue, cirrhosis, migraine headache, cancer, dementia, diabetes, diabetic nephropathy, and diarrhea. This doesn't mean they don't work; it means the research supporting these uses isn't yet strong enough to rate them.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Tree Peony Root Bark Extract is generally well tolerated for short-term use, but high-quality safety data are limited. The most common side effects reported orally are abdominal distension, loss of appetite, diarrhea, nausea, and general stomach discomfort.
In one study, diarrhea occurred in 5% of participants taking a peony product at a high dose for 24 weeks, versus 1% on placebo. Poria Mushroom Extract and Asian Water Plantain Rhizome Extract are also generally well tolerated in traditional use, though human safety data are limited.
Allergic reactions to poria have been reported rarely. Pregnancy and breastfeeding: we do not have enough safety data for any of these ingredients during pregnancy, so they should be avoided.
The same applies to breastfeeding — there isn't reliable safety information for any of them while nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check before taking YinVive if you use blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs — peony may increase bleeding risk. Also flag any medications metabolized by your liver's CYP1A2 or CYP3A4 enzymes, estrogen-based medications or hormonal birth control, sedatives or sleep aids, anticholinergic or cholinergic drugs (which affect nerve signaling), antihypertensive drugs (blood pressure medications), antidiabetes medications, and kidney-damaging drugs.
Use the search tool below to check your specific medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
YinVive is a traditional formula with limited research backing most of its claims. If you take blood thinners, liver-metabolized drugs, estrogen-based medications, sedatives, or drugs that affect the kidneys, you need to talk to your pharmacist or doctor before starting this product.
Pregnant and breastfeeding women should avoid it. If none of those apply to you, run your exact medications through the interaction checker on this page.

YinVive by ActiveHerb Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
YinVive by ActiveHerb contains six ingredients, and several of them interact with medications.
The most serious concerns come from Tree Peony Root Bark Extract, which has moderate-severity interactions with blood thinners (anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs). Peony may increase bleeding risk when combined with these medications, though this is based on lab research and hasn't been confirmed in humans.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Peony also interacts moderately with drugs that are metabolized by your liver's CYP1A2 and CYP3A4 enzymes — peony may slow their breakdown and raise their levels. This includes the antipsychotic clozapine (Clozaril) and potentially many other medications.
Peony may also interfere with estrogen-based medications, including hormone replacement therapy and birth control, by competing for estrogen receptors. There's one case report of increased bleeding in a patient on warfarin after switching to a different brand of a Chinese herbal product containing peony.
Poria Mushroom Extract (another ingredient here) interacts moderately with sedatives and sleep aids — it may boost their effects — and with anticholinergic and cholinergic drugs, which affect nerve signaling. Asian Water Plantain Rhizome Extract has a minor interaction with kidney-damaging drugs; at high doses the extract itself can stress the kidneys.
We could not check Asiatic Dogwood fruit without seed extract or Chinese Yam rhizome extract for interactions.
Altogether, these interactions span 1,366 individual medications. Use the search tool on this page to check your exact medications before starting.

For each ingredient in YinVive with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Tree Peony Root Bark Extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, combining peony with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs might increase the risk of bleeding.
In vitro research suggests that peony might have antiplatelet, anticoagulant, and antithrombotic effects.
Clozapine (Clozaril)
Theoretically, peony might increase the levels and clinical effects of clozapine.
In vitro research shows that peony suppresses the metabolism of clozapine via weak-to-moderate inhibitory effects on cytochromes P450 (CYP) 1A2 and CYP3A4. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Contraceptive Drugs
Theoretically, peony might interfere with contraceptive drugs due to competition for estrogen receptors.
In vitro and animal research shows that peony extract has estrogenic activity. Concomitant use might also increase the risk for estrogen-related adverse effects.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, use of peony may increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
In vitro research shows that peony suppresses the metabolism of clozapine via weak-to-moderate inhibitory effects on CYP1A2 and CYP3A4. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, use of peony may increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that peony suppresses the metabolism of clozapine via weak-to-moderate inhibitory effects on CYP1A2 and CYP3A4. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Estrogens
Theoretically, concomitant use of large amounts of peony might interfere with hormone replacement therapy and/or increase the risk for estrogen-related adverse effects.
In vitro and animal research shows that peony extract has estrogenic activity. Theoretically, peony might compete for estrogen receptors and/or cause additive estrogenic effects.
Phenytoin (Dilantin)
Theoretically, peony might reduce the levels and clinical effects of phenytoin.
Animal research shows that taking peony root reduces levels of phenytoin. Some researchers suggest that peony root might affect cytochrome P450 (CYP) 2C9, which metabolizes phenytoin. However, preliminary research in humans shows that peony root does not alter levels of losartan (Cozaar), which is also metabolized by CYP2C9.
Poria Sclerotium Extract
Anticholinergic Drugs
Theoretically, poria mushroom might decrease the clinical effects of anticholinergic drugs.
In animal research, poria mushroom essential oil reduces acetylcholinesterase activity. This interaction has not been shown in humans.
Cholinergic Drugs
Theoretically, poria mushroom might have additive effects when used with cholinergic drugs.
In animal research, poria mushroom essential oil reduces acetylcholinesterase activity. This interaction has not been shown in humans.
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, taking poria mushroom extract may enhance the therapeutic and adverse effects of sedatives.
Animal research shows that poria mushroom extract has sedative properties. This interaction has not been shown in humans.
Asian Water Plantain Rhizome Extract
Nephrotoxic Drugs
Studies on animals have shown that Asian water plantain extract, which contains triterpenoids, is generally safe at doses up to 1440 mg/kg orally daily and does not cause harm to the body. However, using a higher dose of the extract, at 33.3 grams/kg orally for 60 days, has been linked to kidney issues, as indicated by increased blood urea nitrogen levels, and enlargement of the liver and kidneys. Additionally, two components of Asian water plantain, alisol A and alisol B, when given in doses of 400 mg/kg daily and 500 mg/kg daily respectively for 6 months, have been found to increase the production of markers that suggest potential kidney damage from certain medications. While these findings suggest there is very little risk that Asian water plantain may interact with drugs that are harmful to the kidneys, caution is still advised if combined with known nephrotoxic drugs (source: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28408883/)
Rehmannia Root Tuber Extract, Cured
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, rehmannia might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research shows that rehmannia may have hypoglycemic effects.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, rehmannia might increase the risk of hypotension when taken with antihypertensive drugs.
Animal research shows that rehmannia may have hypotensive effects. Laboratory research shows that formulations of dried and processed rehmannia root inhibit angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE).
