Clinical
This is a rectal suppository product containing cocoa butter and phenylephrine hydrochloride, marketed under FDA's OTC monograph rules for hemorrhoidal treatments. Phenylephrine is a decongestant that functions to reduce swelling and shrink blood vessels in the affected area. Cocoa butter serves as a lubricating and soothing base that also helps the suppository dissolve and be absorbed into the tissue. Products of this type are typically used to address discomfort, itching, and swelling associated with hemorrhoids.
