Clinical
Acetaminophen is used to relieve mild to moderate pain and to reduce fever. Acetaminophen is in a class of medications called analgesics (pain relievers) and antipyretics (fever reducers). It works by changing the way the body senses pain and by cooling the body.
Read the full MedlinePlus article ↗This is an over-the-counter combination kit containing daytime and nighttime cold and flu products. The daytime formula contains acetaminophen (a pain reliever and fever reducer), phenylephrine hydrochloride (a nasal decongestant), and dextromethorphan hydrobromide (a cough suppressant). The nighttime formula adds doxylamine succinate, an antihistamine that causes drowsiness. Together, these ingredients are commonly used to temporarily relieve multiple cold and flu symptoms including aches, fever, congestion, and cough.
