Key points

  • There is no known drug interaction between amoxicillin, prasugrel, carvedilol and losartan.

Answer

There are no drug interactions between amoxicillin, Cozaar (losartan), Coreg (carvedilol) and Effient (prasugrel). They are considered safe to take together.

Additionally, amoxicillin shouldn't interfere with what you are using these drugs for.

You don't mention exactly what conditions you are treating, but based on your medication list, but I'm assuming you have had a recent blood clot or heart attack. You may be treating high blood pressure as well. A short course of amoxicillin should not affect any of these conditions.

Amoxicillin is one of the safer antibiotics when it comes to serious drug interactions. While it does have clinically significant interactions with some drugs, it has less than other common antibiotics, such as tetracyclines and fluoroquinolones.

What is Amoxicillin?

Amoxicillin is an antibiotic used to treat certain infections caused by bacteria, such as pneumonia; bronchitis (infection of the airway tubes leading to the lungs); and infections of the ears, nose, throat, urinary tract, and skin.

Amoxicillin is in a class of medications called penicillin-like antibiotics and works by stopping the growth of bacteria.

What Is Losartan?

Losartan is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure and various other cardiovascular conditions.

Losartan is in a class of medications called angiotensin II receptor antagonists and works by blocking the action of certain natural substances that tighten the blood vessels, allowing the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently.

What Is Coreg?

Carvedilol is used to treat heart failure (condition in which the heart cannot pump enough blood to all parts of the body) and high blood pressure. It also is used to treat people who have had a heart attack.

Carvedilol is in a class of medications called beta-blockers and works by relaxing blood vessels and slowing heart rate to improve blood flow and decrease blood pressure.

What Is Prasugrel?

Prasugrel is used along with aspirin to prevent serious or life-threatening problems with the heart and blood vessels in people who have had a heart attack or severe chest pain.

Prasugrel is in a class of medications called anti-platelet medications and works by preventing platelets (a type of blood cell) from collecting and forming clots that may cause a heart attack or stroke.
