Hello, and thanks for reaching out to us here at HelloPharmacist!
There is no documented interaction between sea moss and omeprazole. In fact, sea moss is not thought to interact with any common medications used for stomach acid issues, such as proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole or H2 blockers like Pepcid.
The main safety consideration with sea moss is its iodine content, which is why you often see it documented as potentially interacting with thyroid medications.
Sea moss contains approximately 4 to 7 mcg of iodine per gram, although the exact amount can vary depending on the product, where it was grown, and how it was processed. Iodine is needed for normal thyroid hormone production, but too much iodine can sometimes disrupt thyroid function, especially in people with existing thyroid disease.
Regarding omeprazole specifically, there does not appear to be an issue with that medication.
