Thanks for reaching out to us!
Based on the ingredients you listed in your question, it appears you are looking to take the supplement 'Milkapalooza' which is manufactured by 'Legendairy Milk'. I am familiar with this supplement and am more than happy to answer this for you.
Milkapalooza contains the following:
- Organic moringa (leaf)
- Organic nettle (leaf)
- Organic fennel (seed)
- Organic shatavari (root) [also known as Asparagus Racemosus]
Each of those ingredients I have listed above is a hyperlink to their individual detail pages if you are interested. You can also check out our herbal interaction checker to find individual interactions between most herbal ingredients and prescription/OTC drugs.
So, per your question, you are looking for interactions between any of the herbal ingredients above and the drugs you are taking (Zoloft [sertraline], Ativan [lorazepam], and Neurontin [gabapentin]).
Based on the research available, the only two known interactions between all of these are between Zoloft with moringa, and Zoloft with fennel. I could find no interactions between any of the others (i.e., nothing has been reported between the ingredients in the supplement and Ativan/Neurontin).
Diving into the Zoloft interactions, both moringa and fennel have been reported in lab studies to be mild inhibitors of CYP3A4, a metabolizing enzyme found in the liver.
Zoloft is partly metabolized by this enzyme, and if the enzyme is inhibited, theoretically, Zoloft concentrations in the blood could increase due to decreased metabolism. This would increase the risk of more side effects occurring.
However, it is important to note that CYP3A4 is only minorly involved in Zoloft metabolism. The drug is metabolized by a number of different enzymes, primarily CYP2B6.
Since the primary enzyme involved in Zoloft metabolism is CYP2B6, a minor alteration of CYP3A4 activity by moringa and fennel is not expected to have a substantial impact on Zoloft metabolism or its overall effectiveness.
Nevertheless, there isn't a whole lot of data to go on here, so it is important, as always, to be cautious.
While it is unlikely there is a clinically significant interaction here, it is always recommended to consult with your doctor before combining Zoloft with any other substances, including moringa or fennel. They can assess your individual situation, and monitor you accordingly.
