Concomitant use of apomorphine, a dopamine agonist that prolongs the QT interval and dopamine antagonists such as neuroleptics (eg, phenothiazines, butyrophenones, thioxanthenes) that also prolong the QT interval may diminish the effectiveness of apomorphine and increase the risk of QT interval prolongation. Antiemetics with antidopaminergic actions should be avoided. Patients with major psychotic disorders receiving neuroleptics should be treated with dopamine agonists only if the potential benefits outweigh the risks. The risk of torsades de pointes cannot be ruled out, therefore use caution if coadministered1.
