GLUCURONIDATED DRUGS
Why this applies to Apomorphine
Apomorphine falls under GLUCURONIDATED DRUGS — the group Brussels Sprout interacts with.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the gist for Apomorphine (Apokyn): your body partly clears it through a process called glucuronidation, where the liver tags the drug so it can be flushed out. Brussels sprouts (and cabbage) contain plant compounds that seem to nudge that clearance pathway to work a little faster. In theory, that could mean slightly lower apomorphine levels and a weaker response, so you might notice your 'off' episodes (stiffness, trouble moving or walking) aren't covered quite as well.
The honest truth is this is a theoretical, modest concern based on limited diet studies, not strong trials with apomorphine itself. Normal helpings of Brussels sprouts at dinner are very unlikely to throw off your dosing. If you eat large amounts regularly or take concentrated extracts, just mention it to your neurologist or pharmacist so they can keep an eye on how well your medicine is working.

About Brussels Sprout
What is Brussels Sprout?
- General nutrition and fiber
- Antioxidant support
- Digestive health
- Heart health support
- Cancer-prevention interest
Brussels sprouts are a nutritious cruciferous vegetable rich in fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K, and plant compounds called glucosinolates. Eating them as part of a balanced diet is healthy and safe for most people, but supplement-style claims (like preventing cancer) are not well proven. If you take blood thinners or have thyroid concerns, talk with your pharmacist or doctor about your intake.
About Apomorphine Injection
What Is Apomorphine Injection Used For?
Brand names: Uprima, Apokyn, APO-go, APO-go Pen, APO-go PFS
Apomorphine Injection treats “off” episodes in advanced Parkinson's disease. These are periods of poor movement and stiffness, sometimes called hypomobility. They include “end-of-dose wearing off” and unpredictable “on/off” episodes.
It is used for acute, intermittent treatment, meaning as-needed treatment of episodes as they happen. It has been studied as an add-on to other Parkinson's medicines.
