Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Nortriptyline
Nortriptyline falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Brussels Sprout interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: your body partly uses an enzyme called CYP1A2 to break down nortriptyline. Some animal studies suggest Brussels sprouts may speed that enzyme up. In theory, that could clear nortriptyline out a little faster and make it work a bit less well, so your depression symptoms might not be as well controlled.
I want to be honest about the evidence, though. This is based on lab and animal research only, not real people, so it's a weak, theoretical concern. Eating Brussels sprouts as a normal part of your meals is very unlikely to throw off your treatment. Concentrated cruciferous-vegetable supplements are where I'd be more cautious. If you notice your mood slipping or plan to take such supplements, check in with your pharmacist or doctor first.

About Brussels Sprout
What is Brussels Sprout?
- General nutrition and fiber
- Antioxidant support
- Digestive health
- Heart health support
- Cancer-prevention interest
Brussels sprouts are a nutritious cruciferous vegetable rich in fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K, and plant compounds called glucosinolates. Eating them as part of a balanced diet is healthy and safe for most people, but supplement-style claims (like preventing cancer) are not well proven. If you take blood thinners or have thyroid concerns, talk with your pharmacist or doctor about your intake.

What Is Nortriptyline Used For?
Brand names: Pamelor, Nortriptyline, Aventyl, Allegron
Nortriptyline is approved to relieve symptoms of depression. This applies to nortriptyline hydrochloride capsules, nortriptyline hydrochloride oral solution, and Pamelor capsules — all used for the same core indication.
The label notes that depression arising from within the body (endogenous depression) may respond better than other types of depression, though all of these products are indicated for the broader relief of depressive symptoms.
