Theoretically, indole-3-carbinol might increase the metabolism of CYP1A2 substrates and lower serum concentrations.

Here's the idea with combining indole-3-carbinol and your nortriptyline. Nortriptyline is partly handled by a liver enzyme called CYP1A2, and lab and animal studies suggest I3C may speed that enzyme up. If that happened in people, your body could clear nortriptyline a little faster, which might lower its level and make it work less well. In practice that could look like your depression symptoms creeping back, or feeling like the medicine just isn't doing as much.

I want to be honest though: this is only theoretical, based on animal data, not human studies. Eating broccoli or cabbage almost certainly won't matter. Concentrated I3C supplements are the bigger question. Before adding one, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first.
