Brussels Sprout + Desipramine

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Desipramine
Desipramine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Brussels Sprout interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: your body partly uses an enzyme called CYP1A2 to break down desipramine. Lab and animal studies hint that compounds in Brussels sprouts can speed that enzyme up. In theory, faster breakdown could lower your desipramine levels a bit, meaning your depression might not be as well controlled as it should be.
I want to be honest about how shaky this is. The evidence comes only from test tube and animal work, not from people, and even then we're talking about concentrated effects. A normal serving of Brussels sprouts at dinner is very unlikely to throw off your medication. If you're eating large amounts regularly or taking sprout extract supplements, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on how you're feeling.

About Brussels Sprout
What is Brussels Sprout?
- General nutrition and fiber
- Antioxidant support
- Digestive health
- Heart health support
- Cancer-prevention interest
Brussels sprouts are a nutritious cruciferous vegetable rich in fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K, and plant compounds called glucosinolates. Eating them as part of a balanced diet is healthy and safe for most people, but supplement-style claims (like preventing cancer) are not well proven. If you take blood thinners or have thyroid concerns, talk with your pharmacist or doctor about your intake.
