Brussels Sprout + Etonogestrel
Etonogestrel brand name: Implanon.
Brussels Sprout has a moderate interaction with Etonogestrel. Animal research suggests that Brussels sprout can induce cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) activity.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Etonogestrel
Etonogestrel falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Brussels Sprout interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for your Implanon (etonogestrel) implant. The concern on file is that Brussels sprouts may gently speed up an enzyme called CYP1A2, which could in theory help your body clear certain drugs faster. If that happened with your birth control hormone, you could end up with slightly lower levels, and the worry would be reduced contraceptive reliability or breakthrough spotting.
But I want to keep this in perspective. This is based only on lab and animal data, not real-world human studies, and etonogestrel is mostly handled by a different enzyme (CYP3A4), not CYP1A2. Eating Brussels sprouts as a normal part of your meals is very unlikely to weaken your implant. If you have any questions or notice unusual bleeding, check in with your pharmacist or doctor.

The most serious there right now: Grapefruit (major), St. John's Wort (major), Acacia Rigidula (moderate), Activated Charcoal (moderate) and Adrafinil (moderate).
By severity: 2 major · 135 moderate · 38 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Etonogestrel page
“St. John's wort is the supplement to understand first if you use etonogestrel (Implanon), because it revs up the liver enzyme that clears the hormone and can leave you with less pregnancy protection than you think you have.”

About Brussels Sprout
What is Brussels Sprout?
- General nutrition and fiber
- Antioxidant support
- Digestive health
- Heart health support
- Cancer-prevention interest
Brussels sprouts are a nutritious cruciferous vegetable rich in fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K, and plant compounds called glucosinolates. Eating them as part of a balanced diet is healthy and safe for most people, but supplement-style claims (like preventing cancer) are not well proven. If you take blood thinners or have thyroid concerns, talk with your pharmacist or doctor about your intake.
