American Ginseng + Panitumumab
Panitumumab brand name: Vectibix.
We found no known interaction between American Ginseng and Panitumumab in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first.
American Ginseng and Panitumumab
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Panitumumab and American Ginseng in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.
American Ginseng safety at a glance
Pregnancy & breastfeeding ratings are from Natural Medicines (Therapeutic Research Center) — the full detail is in the Special populations card below. Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.
Why No Interaction Is Listed for Panitumumab
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Panitumumab is filed under a single classification — antineoplastics. American Ginseng has documented interactions with 4 drug classes — the most serious being warfarin (coumadin) (major), antidiabetes drugs (moderate) and immunosuppressants (moderate) — and none of Panitumumab’s classifications are among them.
Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.
American Ginseng Does Interact With Other Medications
American Ginseng has 2 major, 215 moderate known drug interactions in our database — Panitumumab isn’t one of them. If you take anything else, check it against the full list below.

See Every Supplement That Interacts With Panitumumab
This page covers American Ginseng only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Panitumumab page lists 1 supplement it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: American Pawpaw (minor).
By severity: 1 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Panitumumab page
“Panitumumab (Vectibix) is an infused antibody used against certain colorectal cancers, and its supplement interaction file is about as short as they come. A single ingredient appears on it, American pawpaw, and even that is rated minor, with the evidence suggesting the interaction is unlikely to occur at all.”

Where American Ginseng and Panitumumab Sit Against Everything Else
Out of every supplement and medication people look up on HelloPharmacist, here is where these two land this week — and which way each has been moving.

About American Ginseng
What is American Ginseng?
- Stress and energy support
- Immune support and colds
- Blood sugar management
- Mental focus and clarity
- General wellness (adaptogen)
American ginseng is an herbal root used as an 'adaptogen' to support energy, stress, immune function, and blood sugar. Some uses—such as reducing the chance or length of colds and modestly lowering after-meal blood sugar—have early supportive evidence, but most claims are not well proven. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before use, especially if you have a health condition or take medications.
Panax quinquefolius · Araliaceae · Root (and sometimes leaves) · Capsules, tablets, dried root, powder, tea, liquid extracts, tinctures
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether American Ginseng is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our American Ginseng record says about it on its own.
American Ginseng: dosing
There is no single official dose for American ginseng. Products differ in their root concentration and ginsenoside content, so the right amount depends on the specific product. The safest approach is to follow the directions on the product label and not exceed the recommended amount. Because it may affect sleep, many people take it earlier in the day.

About Panitumumab Injection
What Is Panitumumab Injection Used For?
Brand name: Vectibix
Vectibix (panitumumab injection) is used to treat metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) in adults. It is approved for patients whose tumors have a specific genetic profile — either wild-type RAS (no RAS mutations in KRAS or NRAS) or a KRAS G12C mutation — as confirmed by an FDA-approved test before starting treatment.
For wild-type RAS mCRC, Vectibix may be used alone after prior chemotherapy has stopped working, or in combination with FOLFOX chemotherapy as a first-line treatment. For KRAS G12C-mutated mCRC, Vectibix is used in combination with sotorasib in patients who have already received fluoropyrimidine-, oxaliplatin-, and irinotecan-based chemotherapy. Vectibix is not appropriate for patients with RAS-mutant mCRC (except in the specific KRAS G12C combination setting) or for patients whose RAS mutation status is unknown.

Panitumumab Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Panitumumab as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with American Ginseng — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
