No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Cardamom and Dobutamine in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Cardamom and Dobutamine

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Dobutamine and Cardamom in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Cardamom at all — not against Dobutamine, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

What Cardamom Itself Has Been Linked To

This is not an interaction — nothing below involves Dobutamine. It is the side-effect record for Cardamom on its own, from the licensed Natural Medicines monograph. If something new turns up after you add Cardamom, this list is the first place to look.

  • A skin rash Additional detail

“Orally, mild skin inflammation due to cardamom has been reported in one participant of a clinical trial. Topically, a case report describes chronic hand dermatitis in a confectioner frequently exposed to cardamom. Skin patch tests were positive for cardamom, and for terpenoids present in the seeds.”

Everything above comes from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record for Cardamom — expand a row for the licensed statement it rests on. We read the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Dobutamine’s FDA label too, and the two lists don’t meaningfully overlap — which is why no Dobutamine column appears here.

See Every Supplement That Interacts With Dobutamine

This page covers Cardamom only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Dobutamine page lists 17 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.

The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), Coffee Charcoal (moderate), European Mandrake (moderate), Glucomannan (moderate) and Guar Gum (moderate).

By severity: 1 major · 7 moderate · 9 minor.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Dobutamine page

“Activated charcoal is the one entry here I'd treat as a genuine hazard alongside dobutamine (Dobutrex), a hospital medicine given by IV drip to strengthen a struggling heart. Charcoal binds many drugs and can cut their levels even when the drug isn't taken by mouth, and it's the only major-rated interaction of the 17 on this page.”

About Cardamom

What is Cardamom?

  • Digestive upset and bloating
  • Bad breath
  • Nausea
  • Flavoring in food and drinks
  • General antioxidant support

Cardamom is a popular cooking spice that has long been used in traditional medicine for digestion and fresh breath. As a food, it is generally safe for most people, but high-dose supplements have not been well studied, so the health benefits remain mostly unproven. If you want to use concentrated cardamom products, check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Elettaria cardamomum · Zingiberaceae · Seeds (from the dried fruit pods) and essential oil · Whole pods, ground spice, tea, capsules, extracts, and essential oil

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Cardamom is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Cardamom record says about it on its own.

Cardamom: dosing

There is no official or standardized medicinal dose for cardamom. As a spice, people use it freely in cooking, which is considered safe. For supplements, capsules, or extracts, the right amount varies by product, and a proven effective dose has not been established. The safest approach is to follow the directions on the product label and not exceed them.

About Dobutamine

What Is Dobutamine Used For?

Brand name: Dobutrex

Dobutamine injection is used when the heart suddenly loses its ability to pump blood effectively — a condition called cardiac decompensation. This can happen because of organic heart disease or as a result of heart surgery. It is given intravenously (through an IV) in a hospital or clinical setting to provide short-term inotropic support, meaning it helps the heart muscle contract more strongly.

Clinical trial experience with intravenous dobutamine extends only up to 48 hours of use. Dobutamine has not been shown to be safe or effective for long-term treatment of heart failure, and long-term use of similar drugs has been linked to increased risk of hospitalization and death.

Most-Reported Side Effects for Dobutamine

From FAERS, the FDA’s public side-effect reporting system (4,905 reports, all brands). Reports are voluntary and are not proof the drug caused the effect.
